Jaffe or Barrett

One Love by Lee Jaffe,

One Love by Lee Jaffe,
In 1973 Young Artist and filmmaker Lee Jaffe met Bob Marley in New York City and within hours cemented a friendship that would see Jaffe becoming a "Wailer" right down (or up) to his dreadlocks. While Marley was well known in Jamaica, he was little known in the rest of the world. Jaffe witnessed Marley's life and increasing fame during those years. He helped organize Marley's first American tour and played reggae with the Wailers throughout Jamaica. He learned Rastafarian ways. And he took wonderful, candid photographs of the many colorful characters who moved through Bob's world. This book, with the photographs and Jaffe's account of those exciting years, is a lens through which we have an intimate view of the young Marley. Jaffe's recollections of life with Marley are little diminished by time. Indeed, they are as colorful as the photographs, and as revealing.

Agrippina: Sex, Power, and Politics in the Early Empire by Anthony A. Barrett,
Agrippina: Sex, Power, and Politics in the Early Empire by Anthony A. Barrett,
Agrippina the Younger attained a level of power in first-century Rome unprecedented for a woman. According to ancient sources, she achieved her success by plotting against her brother, the emperor Caligula, murdering her husband, the emperor Claudius, and controlling her son, the emperor Nero, by sleeping with him. Modern scholars tend to accept this verdict. But in his dynamic biography - the first on Agrippina in English - Anthony Barrett paints a startling new picture of this influential woman. Drawing on the latest archaeological, numismatic, and historical evidence, Barrett argues that Agrippina has been misjudged. Although she was ambitious, says Barrett, she made her way through ability and determination rather than by sexual allure, and her political contributions to her time seem to have been positive. After Agrippina's marriage to Claudius there was a marked decline in the number of judicial executions and there was close cooperation between the Senate and the emperor; the settlement of Cologne, founded under her aegis, was a model of social harmony; and the first five years of Nero's reign, while she was still alive, were the most enlightened of his rule. According to Barrett, Agrippina's one real failing was her relationship with her son, the monster of her own making who had her murdered in horrific and violent circumstances. Agrippina's impact was so lasting, however, that for some 150 years after her death no woman in the imperial family dared assume an assertive political role.

Aston Barrett - Aston Francis Barrett (born November 22, 1946, Kingston, Jamaica), often called "Familyman" or "Fams" for short, is a Jamaican bass player. He was one of the the Barrett brothers (the other being Carlton "Carlie" Barrett) who played with Bob Marley & The Wailers.

Barrett's Privateers - Barrett's Privateers is a folk song in the style of a sea chanty, written and performed by Canadian musician Stan Rogers. Although Barrett, the Antelope and other specific instances mentioned in the song are fictional, Barrett's Privateers is largely an authentic account of privateering in the late 1700's.

Barrett (album) - Barrett was the second and final studio album of new material released by former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett. In February 1970, shortly after releasing his first album, The Madcap Laughs, Barrett appeared on John Peel's Top Gear radio show where he presented only one song from the newly released album.

Barrett Firearms Company - The Barrett Firearms Company was founded in 1980 by Ronnie Barrett. The company's main product is the Barrett M82A1 sniper rifle.
